| David Williams-Ellis was born in Ireland in 1959. From 1977-78 he studied drawing in Florence with Signorina Nerina Simi and was an apprentice with Florentine woodcarvers. His talent was soon recognised and he was awarded the Greenshield Foundation Award which enabled him to work with the craftsmen of Carrara. He then moved to London to study at the Sir John Cass School of Art under Clive Duncan. In 1993 he was elected into the Royal Cambrian Academy. David has for many years been in high demand as a portraitist. Commissions include Admiral Victor Crutchley (1982), Lady Edwina Grosvenor (1989) and the Duchess of Abercorn (1989). |
